Celebrating Queer Artists
Overview
PFLAG and VECCA are working together to bring you a month of LGBT+ creators in October. Fees are being waived to allow a variety of artists to come forward this month. There are limited spaces depending on the size of the pieces submitted, but additional art prints are encouraged. In this vein, there is no specific theme: please submit the piece you are proudest of!
Submission Guidelines
Any 2 or 3-dimensional medium is acceptable, as well as writing and music. Traditional, abstract, and other forms of creative art are encouraged. There are our current guidelines in accordance with previous shows:
- Nudity should not include visible genitalia or detailed nipples.
- Avoid recognizable gore and excessive blood. This does not include healed wounds, if, for example, an amputee chooses to depict themselves with a healed but missing limb, or for the purposes of top surgery scars.
- In accordance with being a 501c3, VECCA cannot “participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements) any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.” At this time, we request that any political symbols be kept to pride flags, and religious symbols not be negatively depicted.
If sold, the artist will receive a check of 70% of the set price, with 15% of proceeds going to VECCA and 15% to PFLAG Woodstock. Prints are welcome and encouraged.
REQUIREMENTS: VECCA membership is not required. All work submitted must be original. Work derived from other copyrighted material (ie books, magazines, movies, etc) or work copied from other Creative Artists will not be accepted. Artwork must be labeled on the back with Artist, Title, Media, and Price. All work must be framed or with a finished look (e.g. clean sides, if an unframed canvas), as well as wired to hang (NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS). VECCA reserves the right to refuse any artwork any reason listed herein.
An artist reception will be open to the public October 12 at 4 pm.
Drop off artwork at VECCA September 28th – 29th between 1 – 3 pm. Art will be installed Sept 29th at 3 pm. If you cannot drop off your artwork at this time, email VECCArts@gmail.com to work out alternative plans.

Demo Days
There are also four spaces available for Demo Days in October– each Saturday, we would like to host an artist demonstrating their process in front of VECCA. Once again, for this month, the demo day fee has been waived. You do not need to submit an artwork to this show to host a demo day; email VECCArts@gmail.com and specifically request a PFLAG demo day.
